There are still vast regions which potentially are terra incognita .
Many of them are mapped poorly if at all, and some hold undreamed-
of treasures in the realm of science. To study these areas, to reveal
the history of their making to the world of today, to learn what they
can give for education, culture and for human welfare--that is the
exploration of the present and the future.
